Welcome to our weekly Friday Check-in for June 27th, 2025 ✅

If you are new to Soul Care, WELCOME!! We are so glad you are here. We have a weekly rhythm of checking in together on Fridays. We use Soul Care's Page, Person, Plan framework to create a weekly rhythm and prepare ourselves for Sabbath rest.

Hello, dear one. How has your week been? This month, we are keeping this promise in front of us:

...you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. (Isaiah 58:9, NIV)

Take the next few minutes to check in with yourself and enter into the presence of God’s Spirit. If it helps to light a candle or adopt a prayerful posture, do so!

Let's begin with,

Page: An Invitation to Reflection

Today, read or listen to Luke 22:24-30 [MSG] three times:

Within minutes they were bickering over who of them would end up the greatest. But Jesus intervened: “Kings like to throw their weight around and people in authority like to give themselves fancy titles. It’s not going to be that way with you. Let the senior among you become like the junior; let the leader act the part of the servant. Who would you rather be: the one who eats the dinner or the one who serves the dinner? You’d rather eat and be served, right? But I’ve taken my place among you as the one who serves. And you’ve stuck with me through thick and thin. Now I confer on you the royal authority my Father conferred on me so you can eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and be strengthened as you take up responsibilities among the congregations of God’s people."

Spend a few minutes journaling in response to this passage:

  • What stands out to you most? Is there a particular word or phrase?
  • As you read through it a second time… ask God, “to what area of my life does that particular word or phrase connect?”
  • And as you read a third time, be asking God, “Is there an invitation for me?” Is there a response of some kind that God is inviting you into?

Next up is,
Person: An Invitation to Connection

Let’s continue to meditate on the theme: “HEARING GOD”. In today’s reading, the disciples are in the presence of Jesus, yet they’re arguing over status. Proximity to God doesn’t always mean clarity of hearing. They physically hear Jesus, but they’re not attuned to His heart. Here are some reflection questions to go deeper:

  • Where and when am I caught up in comparison or self-importance that might be muting God’s voice?
  • As you sit with Jesus’ words, what do you hear in terms of God’s true values (i.e. humility, servanthood, quiet faithfulness)? ASK: What do I need to unlearn in terms of worldly values (what voices need to be silenced) to more fully align with God’s values?
  • Even as Jesus corrects the disciples, he affirms their loyalty. Sometimes hearing God isn’t about being scolded; it’s about being re-centered and called deeper. ASK: Am I willing to let go of what I think I deserve, to receive what God is truly offering?
  • How might God be calling me to listen through the lens of service rather than success?
  • How can I trust the voice of God over time, even when I don’t yet understand where it’s leading...
Connect with a friend or relative to discuss the journal prompts/questions above. How might you live out Jesus’ words more fully in community right now?

Finally we have,
Plan: An Invitation to Intention

Summer often brings changes to our usual rhythms... kids are out of school, vacations happen, and life transitions can shift our routines. In the midst of all that, how are you hoping to be intentional about caring for your soul during this season? If you are looking to strengthen your soul this summer by creating space to slow down, listen deeply, and rediscover what it means to lead from a well-nourished soul, you are welcome to join our July cohort hosted by our very own, Meredith Ainley!

One way to intentionally pause is to focus on your breathing: take a deep breath, slow the exhale and notice the air moving in and out of you.

Begin to pray:
Inhale: Speak, Lord...
Exhale: I am listening. Stay with this breath prayer and in silence for as long as you need.
Then bring your prayers and reflections to close: Thank you, Lord, that you hear me and speak to me. Amen.

Thanks for checking in today - Blessings!
