Let’s pause for our weekly check in.

Take a deep breath as you begin to settle into this time of reflection and prayer.

What do you need most from the Lord right now? Can this need be summarized in a word or phrase? Allow this word or phrase to be authentic, an opening of yourself to what God might have for you as you pause today.

Month Theme: Profusely Rooted... in the Vastness of God

“Our soul is like an inner stream of water, which gives strength, direction, and harmony to every other element of our life. When that stream is as it should be, we are constantly refreshed and exuberant in all we do, because our soul itself is then profusely rooted in the vastness of God and his kingdom, including nature, and all else within us is enlivened and directed by that stream.”

Let's begin with,

Page: An Invitation to Reflection

 
Read Ephesians 3:16-21 (NIV) three times.
 

“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.


Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. 

 

Spend a few minutes journaling in response to this passage:
  • What stands out to you most? Is there a particular word or phrase?
  • As you read through it a second time… ask God, “to what area of my life does that particular word or phrase connect?”
  • And as you read a third time, be asking God, “Is there an invitation for me?” Is there a response of some kind that God is inviting you into?
"…That you may have power to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ…”
Where have you recently felt confined or constricted? How might God be inviting you into greater spaciousness, into greater Love?
 
Next up is,
Person: An Invitation to Connection

 

This week, reach out to someone with whom you might have felt tension or distance. Practice spaciousness. Give room for grace and understanding. How can love stretch wider in this relationship?
 
 
Finally we have,
Plan: An Invitation to Intention

 

Take a short walk this week under open sky. With each step, name an aspect of God’s vast love: wider, longer, higher, deeper. Let your body feel the spaciousness of grace as prayer in motion.
 
And a breath prayer to take with you this week:
 
Inhale: Your love is vast.
Exhale: I rest within it.
