Friday Check-in: Rooted in God’s Overflow 11/28/2025

In the USA, we paused yesterday to give thanks and celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Please know deeply: we are thankful for YOU!

Instead of pursuing possessions, cheap deals, or Christmas gifts in Black Friday shopping, let’s pause right now to intentionally pursue God... in silence, stillness, prayer, and reflection...

Month Theme: Profusely Rooted... in the Vastness of God

“Our soul is like an inner stream of water, which gives strength, direction, and harmony to every other element of our life. When that stream is as it should be, we are constantly refreshed and exuberant in all we do, because our soul itself is then profusely rooted in the vastness of God and his kingdom, including nature, and all else within us is enlivened and directed by that stream.”

Let's begin with,

Page: An Invitation to Reflection

 
As you’ve continued to meditate on Ephesians 3:16-21 this month, what stands out to you the most? What are you most grateful for in these verses?
 
Read Ephesians 3:20-21 (NIV) three times.
 

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. 

 

Spend a few minutes journaling in response to this passage:
  • What stands out to you most? Is there a particular word or phrase?
  • As you read through it a second time… ask God, “to what area of my life does that particular word or phrase connect?”
  • And as you read a third time, be asking God, “Is there an invitation for me?” Is there a response of some kind that God is inviting you into?
God’s power is already at work within you... the same life-giving current you’ve been rooting in all month. Where have you recently glimpsed God doing “immeasurably more” than you expected in you, around you, or through you? Can you trust God’s power is at work, even when you can’t see it, even when circumstances are hard?
 
Consider how divine creativity and abundance move quietly beneath the surface, sometimes even outside of our direct vision or knowing, bringing forth more than you can plan or control. Pause now to prayerfully surrender to this power at work within you.
 
Next up is,
Person: An Invitation to Connection

 

Let’s continue to name aloud God’s goodness. Share a story of grace or surprise with someone, a way you’ve seen God’s “more” unfold. How might gratitude and testimony become a way of glorifying God together?
 
 
Finally we have,
Plan: An Invitation to Intention

 

To integrate a simple “more than imagined” practice into your rhythm: Each evening, pause to ask, “Where did I sense God’s power at work today?” Write a brief note of gratitude or awe. Keep a running record of God’s quiet abundance in ordinary moments.
 
This builds our capacity to notice God’s presence and power.
 
Closing Prayer:
 
God of quiet abundance,
meet me here at the end of this month.
Even when I don’t feel rooted,
hold me steady in Your love.
Open my eyes to the small ways
Your power is at work in my ordinary days.
Grow in me the capacity to notice,
to trust, and to give thanks.
Do immeasurably more within me, and within those I love and serve,
than we can ask or imagine.
Amen.
