*We encourage you to pause the audio after any reflection moments or questions. There is also a setting on the player above to slow down the audio if that helps.

Welcome to our weekly Friday Check-in for September 19th, 2025 ✅

Here is your weekly invitation to a guided pause... take the next few minutes to breathe, reflect on Scripture, ask yourself some key questions, and re-center in God’s presence. Our hope and belief is that this can make an enormous difference in your day! Give it a try...

Let's begin with,

Page: An Invitation to Reflection

Read Matthew 5:11-16 (ESV) three times.

“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Spend a few minutes journaling in response to this passage:
  • What stands out to you most? Is there a particular word or phrase?
  • As you read through it a second time… ask God, “to what area of my life does that particular word or phrase connect?”
  • And as you read a third time, be asking God, “Is there an invitation for me?” Is there a response of some kind that God is inviting you into?
This month’s theme is “consistency.” We’re continuing to meditate on this theme and Colossians 1: 9-12 alongside today’s reading.

Next up is,
Person: An Invitation to Connection

Take a moment to notice how Jesus says you are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. He does NOT say “try harder to be” but... “this is who you are.” Consistency flows not from striving but from living out your true identity, day after day. Reflection questions to go deeper and apply to your relationships:

  • What helps me consistently remember who I am in Christ and whose I am, especially when life isn’t easy? Are there any relationships in my life that consistently remind me of my true identity?
  • What patterns, fears, or voices most often get in the way of me living out my true identity as salt and light?
  • Where have I recently noticed glimpses of my truest self, aligned with God’s love, peace, and purpose... and how might I lean into that more fully?
  • Name one relationship or setting where you tend to hide or dim your light. Hold that honestly before God.

Finally we have,
Plan: An Invitation to Intention

Let’s be intentional in praying with consistency! It is OK to pray the same prayers. Over and over again.

Throughout Scripture (Luke 18:1–8, Luke 11:5–10, Genesis 32:22–32, 1 Samuel 1:9–20, 1 Kings 18:41–46, etc) we see examples of persistence in prayer. Even what feels like “holy annoyance” is not only affirmed but applauded by God!

Here is a prayer to close your time of reflection:

“Father, remind me today that I belong to You. Quiet the voices that confuse or diminish me, and root me in the truth that I am Your child, called to shine Your light. Let me walk in that identity with steadiness and joy.”
Then inhale: I belong to You. Exhale: I shine for You.

Spend as long as you need in stillness and quiet, breathing, praying... being with God.

Amen.

Thanks for checking in today - Blessings!
