Welcome to our weekly Friday Check-in for August 15th, 2025 ✅

If you are new to Soul Care, WELCOME!! We are so glad you are here.

How has your week been?

Take the next few minutes to check in with yourself and enter into God’s healing presence. If it helps to light a candle or adopt a prayerful posture, do so!

Let's begin with,

Page: An Invitation to Reflection

Read or listen to Mark 10:46-52 (CEB) three times:

Jesus and his followers came into Jericho. As Jesus was leaving Jericho, together with his disciples and a sizable crowd, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus, Timaeus’ son, was sitting beside the road. When he heard that Jesus of Nazareth was there, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, show me mercy!” Many scolded him, telling him to be quiet, but he shouted even louder, “Son of David, show me mercy!”

Jesus stopped and said, “Call him forward.”

They called the blind man, “Be encouraged! Get up! He’s calling you.”

Throwing his coat to the side, he jumped up and came to Jesus.

Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?”

The blind man said, “Teacher, I want to see.”

Jesus said, “Go, your faith has healed you.” At once he was able to see, and he began to follow Jesus on the way. (CEB)

Spend a few minutes journaling in response to this passage:
  • What stands out to you most? Is there a particular word or phrase?
  • As you read through it a second time… ask God, “to what area of my life does that particular word or phrase connect?”
  • And as you read a third time, be asking God, “Is there an invitation for me?” Is there a response of some kind that God is inviting you into?

Next up is,
Person: An Invitation to Connection

As we continue to meditate on Matthew 13:31-33 as well and the theme of “smallness” this month, pause now to identify one or two people who are significantly on your heart and mind. Take the next few minutes to intercede on their behalf, asking for God’s healing presence to be revealed in their lives.

Intercession may seem a small act in the midst of deep suffering, loss, and pain... as well as during times of celebration and great joy. Yet even our tiniest “mustard seed” prayers can grow into a powerful healing force.

Finally we have,
Plan: An Invitation to Intention

To become a vessel of healing for others and true intercessors, we must first welcome Jesus’ words and experience His healing touch in our own lives. Sit for the next several minutes with the question Jesus asks Bartimaeus,

“What do you want me to do for you?”

  • Take a few breaths, feeling the air move in and out of your body. Close your eyes.
  • With eyes closed, imagine God calling you by name. Like the blind man on the road to Jericho, Jesus calls you over, kindly looks you in the eyes, and asks, “(Your name), what do you want from me?”
  • Give Jesus a simple and direct answer that comes honestly from your heart. What do you need from the Lord today that can that be summed up in a single word or simple phrase?
  • As you breathe in, inhale a name you are most comfortable using to speak with God (i.e. Spirit, Jesus, Holy One, etc). As you breathe out, exhale that word or phrase that describes your need or desire.
  • Spend as much time as you need, breathing in an invocation of God’s name and breathing out your prayer... your request or need.
Today may you ask for, and accept, the healing energy and power of Jesus. May it flow to you, through you, and out to others.

Amen!

Thanks for checking in today - Blessings!
